I like to add my little bit of flare to the news room whenever possible. I'm spend a lot of time working hard and being serious so when I get a chance to cut up I take it. I also am addicted to coffee -- to combine the two and you have a recipe for "Storm Team Glow Sticks."
Yesterday I made a last minute purchase of glow sticks (you know the kind, where you are standing in line to check out and you see something you cannot live without). I knew right away exactly when I'd bring the glow sticks out -- when Hanna reached us and people were starting to get a little groggy after hours of work and coverage.
About 9:30 this evening, Storm Team meteorologist Jamie Arnold came and told me, "It's (Hanna) here, wanna see?" So, I grabbed my glow sticks, ran outside and looked at the beginning bands of Hanna. After that, like Christmas, I started passing around the Super Storm Team Glow Sticks -- it's what everyone cool was supposed to wear. To my surprise, everyone loved the glow sticks more than I thought! They are a hit! Looking out across the newsroom I can see a sea of Super Storm Team Glow Sticks -- unifying us all in our first major storm together.
Sometimes those last minute purchases are the best.
Stay safe out there every one -- and grab your glow sticks!

Great team building effort. Love the idea but glad I don't live in hurricane land.
