Several months back I got a call from someone with the National Shag Dance Championships. He asked me to take part in "Shagging with the Stars" at Studebaker's on January 30th. I guess it's kind of the comic relief they pull out to help raise money for a scholarship.
At the time I felt honored. Wow! I have just moved here and why not jump in and learn the state dance? Plus, the little contest wasn't for another four months, I wouldn't have any problem getting the moves down by the end of January.
It's now nearing the end of January ... and I'm getting nervous. Very, very nervous. My partner, Jeff Hargett, is so very patient with me. It's been a long time since I've had to think about a dance move and I'm feeling the pressure. Pivot ... twirl... one and two, three and four, five, six. It's a constant stream through my head.
One big thing about this little contest is that part of the scoring has to do with audience participation. On that note, I'd like to invite you all to Studebaker's, Friday, January 30th, 9:30 PM to help cheer me on ... and give me a little boost of confidence. It's show time and I could use all the help I can get.

Break a leg, Danner, your will be great.
