Tis the Season

The holidays are a time for many things including giving.

Can you imagine a Turkey Day without a turkey. It's hard for me to, but this year there will be many in the Pee Dee who aren't fortunate enough to have those traditional meals.

I did a story with Harvest Hope Food Bank today. It was sad to see so many shelves without food, and the food there, not festive for the holiday a few days from now.  I wish I could hit the lotto and buy them all the food in the world, but that isn't realistic (i have horrible luck).

Did you know with only one dollar donated, they can buy about 10 pounds of food? I think it's incredible that that is even possible.

And how about those cabinets people. I know you have canned goods that have been sitting in there, you probably won't use, at least not anytime soon. Those goods can help someone who doesn't have anything.

I tell you, I'm going to look in my cabinets tonight to see what I can spare. How about it Pee Dee, if all of us gave up one canned good, and one dollar, we could help to put smiles on strangers faces. I think it's an awesome idea. Hey, and since I've challenged you before to help out those in need through a blog, how about trying it again.

Let's try to help make everyone's Turkey Day one for the books.

Kleenex Please

Why is that everytime the weather decides to play ping pong with warm and cold temperatures I get the sniffles?

Well a little more than the sniffles now. I'm blaming it on the humidity. Without that I don't feel as if the temp changes would be so drastic (at least drastic feeling).

Sometimes you just wish mother nature would set a course and not change it. I guess that would make life a little boring for our Storm Team, but it would be nice.

Weather related events have consumed news here in the Pee Dee lately. I mean with the tornado in Dillon, which was what I call devastating, and then the dipping degrees, it's been quite a whirlwind (no pun intended).

Maybe with the next batch of cold though we can at least get a flurry or two, or three or four.

Then heaters would really be needed and the tissues too.

GET OUT AND VOTE!

Just a quick reminder.... tomorrow is election day and you should get out a vote.

Voting is a right we have in this country, and it's a right that should be taken advantage of. This year we are looking at making history America. We're doing this by... if the Democrats get into office, we'll have our first African American President, and if the Republicans win the ticket, we'll have our first female Vice President.

How cool is that. It just shows we are a progressive country, and of course we are ready to take on all the challenges that are thrown our way.

This election will be a milestone in our history and to think when we are old, well at least for my generation, we'll be able to tell our grandkids about this historic election and how we were apart of it.

I will be working all day tomorrow making sure everyone here in the Pee Dee has the late breaking results as they happen. And before that long day starts, let me tell you, I will be casting my votes too.

Election 2008, it's something I want to be a part of and hope everyone else does too.
