So I'm spending some time on my porch tonight and for the first time in a couple of days, there is no fog. I will tell you it's something I'm excited about. It is really awful to try and drive in that mess. Experiencced it the last few days, especially while following breaking news for our Pee Dee viewers in Lake City for a fatal home invastion in the wee hours of the morning.
While sitting here I can hear the band that is playing over at Creek Rats. It's kind of nice and calming, but some nights you can actually here people who may have partied a little too hard, screaming off the deck, in which case isn't always so nice.
The sound of cars is what I mainly hear as they pass on neighboring roads. Kind of reminds me of living in the city again. Well I do live in a city, but you know what I mean, a bigger city.
One thing I do miss when sitting outside on the porch, the Book Cliffs and Mt. Garlfield in the distance. That is one sight at night, with the stars almost so close you can touch them, lighting the way to the mountains. Especially since everytime I looked at them, I knew my wild horses were on the other side.
There are some things in your life that will capture your heart and awaken your soul, and Colorado was one of them, especially Grand Junction for me. I'm so thankful for the fact I can still go out there and visit and have some close friends who are like family there to welcome me with open arms. And of course a landscape that will make you feel so at peace.
But for now, I am happy to be here in the Pee Dee, because I am doing a job that I love, with a station I feel so very strongly about supporting. It's wonderful to be able to work with such talented people who are so kind and compassionate about similar issues as I. We have, down-pat, the definition of teamwork and with no effort at all. It's kind of a neat thing.
Holidays are just about to knock on the door, so before I end my chatting on this blog, let me say Happy Holidays, and Merry Christmas.
